Monika Korolczuk, part of the IT organization at Databricks, is on a mission to make the employee experience seamless at scale. When she joined, Databricks had around 3,000 employees — just three years later, it’s more than 8,000 and still growing fast. “With that scale comes a lot of challenges and opportunities around meeting the business needs,” Monika said. “We’ve been trying to keep up the pace and ensure that, as the company comes to address customer needs, we can also internally keep up with that.”

Moveworks first came in to support Databricks’ IT evolution journey — enabling orchestration, implementing workflows, and later expanding into HR and beyond. The team completed an 8-week implementation, but at first adoption was just 10% due to minimal change management. “So, we went back, we revised our use cases, did some internal campaigning… that was a game changer that really helped us scale the usage.”

Today, adoption has climbed to 73%, with about half of inquiries handled entirely by the bot — affectionately named R2D2. In the last six months alone, R2D2 has managed over 12,000 inquiries, raised NPS from the low 30s to 70, and delivered on the company’s automation-first vision. “Naveen [our CIO] sometimes says a great ticket is one that doesn’t exist,” Monika explained. “Ultimately, it’s about how well we can satisfy the employee needs in order for them to be productive without having to go to multiple channels.”

For Monika, the partnership with Moveworks is about more than efficiency — it’s about staying ahead of rapid growth. “When you look at our projections, you can imagine a company in three years with 75% of the workforce not even being here yet. How do we come ahead of that? For us, it’s the ability to provide more automation, scaling, and self-service. If there is something that an employee can do themselves, they should be able to do it. And Moveworks helps us get there.”
