Sandbox promotion (fka. Import / Export)

We are announcing this feature on April 23, 2024! We have prepared our database APIs to import and export your use cases, and are hard at work designing the import experience to be great!

We will followup with this roadmap idea to share limited preview enrolment guidance soon!

Hi folks, excited to share quick updates about our import & export experience!

1. We are on track to showcase our import & export experience at .global. We will be announcing the availability of the feature closer to late April, after the public release announcement of this feature at .global
2. We have finished validation of our export and import APIs for Queries, and are continuing testing import APIs for Paths and our new Workflow plugins
3. Exporting a plugin will work through a .zip file when this is made available to the team. This zip file will contain a .json manifest of metadata about the use case, and an encrypted file with plugin configurations and settings.

   

    

4. Importing the file will prompt users to make changes to the plugin configuration. For Paths for example, developers will be prompted to update their API credentials, knowledge articles, and / or configured forms.

   

5. As of right now, there are no access control restrictions over who can import and launch use cases to production.

To provide the best import experience, we’re working on a clearer way to help developers identify where broken references to assets exist. For example, we’ll help you identify when your imported use case has a reference to a knowledge article that might not exist in production.

Hi @Ajay Merchia and @sarthak ! I’m sure what I’m adding here is nothing new, but here’s my perspective: 😉

This functionality will be essential moving forward. We’re in the process of a major rollout, adding HR Domain. In Sandbox we have built 40-50 Creator Studio use cases, and will need to manually recreate each to move them into production. 

And even beyond Creator Studio, overall, there should be better integration between environments. It’s too easy to start making adjustments in your Sandbox, testing and trying various scenarios, and not be able to track exactly what should be moved to Prod.  

So following up on above updates, are we now in Limited Preview or beyond? How can we get our devs access to test?
