[Moveworks]Request for a feature to dynamically retrieve and display manual/knowledge information in a plugin

We would like to request the ability for custom Agent Studio plugins to dynamically search and retrieve relevant content that has already been indexed by Moveworks.

To clarify our use case, we are not requesting real-time Web search functionality such as Live Search, nor are we looking to use the built-in Enterprise Search plugin directly.

Our specific use case is as follows:

  1. We have internal knowledge sources already configured and indexed in Moveworks, including:

    • Manuals stored in Box
    • Knowledge articles stored in ServiceNow
  2. A user submits a query to a custom Agent Studio plugin.

  3. Based on the user's query, we would like the custom plugin to dynamically search the content already indexed by Moveworks and retrieve the most relevant internal knowledge.

  4. We would then like to provide the retrieved content as context to an LLM Action, such as generate_text_action or generate_structured_value_action, so that the LLM can generate a response based on the relevant internal knowledge.

  5. Ideally, this should be possible without having to specify individual files, articles, or knowledge resources in advance within the custom plugin.

In short, we would like custom Agent Studio plugins to have a mechanism to dynamically access and retrieve relevant content from the knowledge sources already indexed by Moveworks, and use that retrieved content as context for subsequent LLM Actions.

This would allow custom plugins to make use of newly added or updated knowledge without requiring individual knowledge resources to be manually configured in each plugin.

We understand from Moveworks Support that this capability is not currently available for custom Agent Studio plugins, so we would like to request it as a Product Idea.

Thank you for considering this request.

    Additional clarification:
I apologize for the confusion. I mistakenly submitted this topic as a Question, but it was intended to be submitted as a Product Idea.

After discussing this use case with Moveworks Support, I understand that the requested functionality is not currently available, and I was advised to raise it as a Product Idea.

Since I am unable to change the topic type after submission, I would like to clarify that this post should be considered a Product Idea / feature request.

Thank you very much for your understanding and consideration.

Hey @akaneishii - our search functionality already summarizes the content being served to the user - which is the same thing you are trying to do with the LLM actions. Is there something about our search feature that’s not working out for you?

    Hi @Kevin Mok ,

Thank you for your response and for clarifying the existing search functionality.

The reason we would like to use this capability within a custom Agent Studio plugin is that our use case requires both the functionality implemented in the custom plugin and relevant information from our internal knowledge sources.

When a custom plugin is triggered, the plugin handles the user's request based on the logic and instructions implemented in that plugin. However, we would also like to provide relevant information from our manuals and knowledge articles as part of the user assistance while the custom plugin is running.

For example, if a user's request triggers a custom plugin, and there is relevant supporting information available in a Box manual or a ServiceNow knowledge article, we would like the plugin to dynamically retrieve that information and incorporate it into the response or subsequent processing.

Therefore, our goal is not to replace Enterprise Search or simply reproduce its summarization functionality.

Rather, we would like to combine the functionality of a custom Agent Studio plugin with the relevant internal knowledge already indexed by Moveworks, so that users can receive both the assistance provided by the custom plugin and relevant information from manuals or knowledge articles within the same interaction.

Ideally, the relevant knowledge would be dynamically identified based on the user's inquiry, without having to specify individual files, articles, or knowledge resources in advance within the plugin.

This is why we would like the ability to make the relevant Moveworks-indexed knowledge available as context or input to the custom plugin and its LLM Actions.

I hope this helps clarify why the existing search functionality alone does not fully address our use case.

Thank you very much for considering this request.

    Best regards,
    Akane Ishii
