It would be very helpful if the Audience Settings in Plugin Launch Configuration supported targeting users based on Active Directory (AD) groups.

Today, targeting relies mainly on Roster data, which can make it difficult to accurately manage specific user groups. This becomes especially challenging when trying to manage small or dynamic audiences.

One example is allowing users to opt in as beta or limited preview testers for plugins. Without AD group support, administrators have to manually update audience settings or rely on imperfect roster attributes, which creates ongoing maintenance work.

If plugin audiences could reference AD group membership, admins could simply manage access by adding or removing users from the group, making beta programs and staged rollouts much easier to manage.

Thanks for the feedback, Jeremy — simplifying launch management is something we hear about a lot.

The main challenge with native AD group targeting is latency. Resolving group membership at launch time adds real overhead, which is part of what makes this difficult to get right without impacting performance.

In the meantime, Launch Configuration has an Advanced Mode where you can write DSL rules targeting user attributes. If your AD group membership is ingested as a user attribute, you can target it with something like:

"Beta_Testers" in user.custom_data.ad_groups

It's not as clean as a native integration, but it works. Rest assured this is something we're actively thinking about.
