📊 How Feedback Is Collected & How to Get All Feedback Data

Today, users can give feedback on a bot response in two steps:

1️⃣ Thumbs Up / Thumbs Down (Quick Feedback)

  • Users react with 👍 or 👎 on the bot response

  • This action always gets recorded, even if the user does nothing else

📍 Where this data lives

  • Table: interactions

  • Filters to apply:

    • interaction_type = link_click

    • interaction_content = helpful or not helpful

➡️ This captures all feedback clicks, including cases where users do not submit written feedback.

2️⃣ Optional Written Feedback (Form Submission)

  • After clicking 👍/👎, users are taken to a feedback form.

  • Submitting the form is optional.

  • Some submissions may contain no text.

📍 Where this data lives

  • Table: feedback

  • Important note:

    • If the user submits the form without text,
      feedback_text = n/a

➡️ This table captures only form submissions, not all feedback clicks.

⚠️ Common Pitfall

If you look only at the feedback table, you will miss feedback events where:

  • The user clicked 👍/👎

  • But did not submit the feedback form

✅ How to Get Complete Feedback Coverage

To capture 100% of feedback activity, you must combine:

What you want Table to use
All 👍 / 👎 clicks interactions
Written feedback (if any) feedback

Really appreciate you calling out that common pitfall. I can totally see how easy it would be to look at just the feedback table and completely miss the bigger picture. The two-step breakdown makes it super clear where everything lives. Bookmarking this for later 🤓
